Coalition Coordinator
Webb County Community Coalition (Webb County)
Seeking highly motivated and responsible individual that wants to work in the field of drug prevention.
Founded in 1982 in Laredo, Texas, SCAN is a leading provider of social services in South Texas. SCAN's Webb County Community Coalition encourages community collaboration and mobilization, provides drug awareness information, and implements activities that empower citizens to take action to prevent substance use and misuse in the community.
Primary Responsibilities: - Working with the Coalition Director to ensure that the goals and objectives of the Coalition are met on a yearly basis.
- Regularly scheduling, organizing, and participating in drug-free activities including drug prevention presentations and community-based education and mobilization.
- Hosting or co-hosting a monthly Coalition meeting.
- Actively engaging in a variety of media/public relations duties.
- Recruiting and retaining Coalition members from all sectors of the community.
Qualifications:- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. A bachelor’s or master's degree with a major in the behavioral sciences or related field is preferred.
- At least 1 year of full-time work experience is preferred.
- Prior drug prevention experience is preferred.
- Certified as a CPS or APS by the Texas Certification Board is preferred.
- Experience in public speaking and/or facilitating meetings is preferred.
- Experience working with local agencies in the community is preferred.
- Adept at using programs like PowerPoint to create presentations.
- Very good writing and communication skills.
- The ability to recruit and motivate volunteers.
- The ability to accomplish goals.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English is required.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) skills are a plus but not required.
- A valid Texas driver’s license, insurance, and reliable transportation are required.
Work Schedule and Compensation:- The regular work schedule is 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- However, a flexible work schedule from 8:00 a.m.- 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday might be required.
- Some evening and weekend work will be required.
- Salary: $18.00 per hour.
